COVID-19 Information and Guidance

The Environmental Compliance Division of the Sacramento County Environmental Management Department has been designated by the California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal-EPA) as the Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA) for Sacramento County.  As the CUPA, the Hazardous Materials Division is responsible for the implementation of six statewide environmental programs for Sacramento County.  These include:

CUPA Implementation

The implementation of these programs involve:

  • Surveying new and existing facilities to determine applicability  Business Survey Questionnaire
  • Permitting and inspection of regulated facilities
  • Providing educational guidance and notice of changing requirements stipulated in State or Federal laws and regulations
  • Investigations of complaints regarding spills or unauthorized releases
  • Administrative enforcement actions levied against facilities that have violated applicable laws and regulations
